Side Scan Sonar

A side scan sonar is a type of imaging sonar that allows you to quickly collect imager of the underwater floor to map large areas. The side scan transducers have a narrow, tall beam shape so that when they're mounted to either side of the boat the have a full 180 degree view under the boat.

This kind of data collection can be used in an exploratory way or through aggregate mapping. This can be used for search and rescue or more traditional mapping endeavors. A side scan is a highly flexible tool that your USV should be employing today!
